Here's the Buzz

The one you've been hearing about lately

Buzz Krager is a student at Akron Early College High School.  The APS school is on the campus of the University of Akron in what was once the Polsky's Department Store.  Students at Early College High School earn a dual degree from APS and the University of Akron (two year degree) upon graduation from high school.

At the Akron School Board meeting April 29, Buzz was invited to talk to board members and the community about the eSports program he is involved in with the University of Akron.

Joining him was Michael Fay, the director of eSports and head coach for those teams at UA.  Also in attendance was Early College Principal, Cheryl Connolly.

eSports Esports (also known as electronic sports, e-sports, or eSports) is a form of competition using video games. Most commonly, eSports takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.

Buzz was a member of the four person team at UA that recently won the national collegiate championship in eSports.  he shared with the board his experiences and aspirations. Fay talked to the board about the emergence of eSports on college campuses and in high schools.  UA is working with APS now on a program within the schools.
